O’BRIEN’S BURIED IN KILLERNAN GRAVEYARD KILMURRY-IBRICKANE PARISH, COUNTY CLARE, IRELAND

Kevin J. O'Brien

The following is a list of gravestone inscriptions of O'Brien's buried in Killernan Graveyard.  Killernan Graveyard is located about 3 miles East of the Crosses of Annagh in the Parish of Kilmurry-Ibrickane, County Clare, Ireland.

Over the years I have transcribed and recorded the gravestone inscriptions for the purpose of tracing my family genealogy.  My ancestor, James O'Brien was buried there March 1845.  My attempt was to locate and record with the best of accuracy all the O'Brien's buried in Killernan Graveyard.  I have found that many of the O'Brien families in this parish are related.  This has been proven and documented with church, civil and property records.  There is also an O'BRIEN DNA Group with Family Tree DNA, Genealogy by Genetics, Ltd.  There are four distinct families from this parish with matching Y-DNA.

My apologies to the family historian looking for an exact transcription of the following gravestones, not all the transcriptions are exactly as they were chiseled into the stone.  Some were very hard to read and for these, I used my best guess.  There are others where abbreviations were used, words and family names were hyphenated and letters and numbers were backwards or upside down.  My intent is to record and preserve the message on the stone.
I would be glad to hear from anyone with and interest in these records and willing to made and additions or corrections to make these records as complete and accurate as possible.

Sláinte,
Kevin J. O'Brien
