Michael O’Brien was listed as occupier of House, Office and
7 Acres of Land at Field # 16 in the Townland of Carrowlaggan, Parish of
Kilmurry-Ibrickane, County of Clare in the Griffith Valuation of 1855.
Michael O’Brien of Derreen was married to Bridget Donnellan
of Carhuligane on July 17, 1843. The
witnesses of the marriage were Anne O’Brien, Patrick Killeen and Michael
Considine. This looks like Michael
O’Brien likely married into the Donnellan farm in Carhuligane.

I have been
contacted by a descendant of the Carhuligane and Tromra West O’Brien’s that is interested
sharing family history and meeting members of the family.
If any male
O’Brien from this family is interested in DNA testing to see if they are
related to other O’Brien families in the Kilmurry-Ibrickane Parish from
Knockanalban, Shanaway and Killernan; they can be tested by Family Tree
DNA. This test may also prove a lineage
to Brian Boru High King of Ireland.
